  What is e-filing?

E-Filing or electronic filing is a convenient and quick way of sending your tax returns to the I.R.S. by using an on-line tax preparation site like 1040Now or other service providers. Your return is securely transmitted by 1040Now directly to I.R.S. computers for processing. You do not need to mail anything to the I.R.S. The I.R.S. will notify 1040Now whether your tax return(s) has been accepted and, in turn, you can access to the e-filing page for the status of your tax return(s).

Can I print my return and mail it in rather than file it electronically?

If you do not want to e-file your return, you can print and mail your return FREE of charge. You will need Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® to view and print your tax return. Your return can be printed on regular paper with the format that I.R.S. accepts.

Problem with view/print tax forms: For Apple Users, open the Finder window and in the User location choose Downloads. Once the icons pop up, look for the files with the .aspx extension. Right-click (or control-click) one of them. Click on Open with, then click Other. Scroll through until you see Adobe Reader, and click it. Most importantly, check the little box at the bottom of the window that says "Always open with". Click the Open button, and it will open in Adobe Reader. I did this with about 5 files, and then it started listing Adobe Reader in the "Open with" bar on its own. I tested it by trying to download a new .aspx file, and it worked!

What information do I need to prepare my tax return on 1040Now.com?

You need the same information as if you file a traditional paper return. We have a Tax Filing checklist that you can refer to in the process of gathering information to prepare your tax return.

Can I file my state return on 1040Now.com?

Yes, you can file your tax return after you complete preparation of your federal tax return. Some states require state tax return filed at the same as the federal tax return. Refer to "Federal and State Tax Forms" for more details.

Do I need to download anything to use the 1040Now Online Service?

No, you do not need to download any other software. The only software you need for viewing and printing of your tax return is Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® as stated above.

Is 1040Now an authorized IRS e-file provider?

1040Now undergo extensive testing with the I.R.S. before being accepted as an authorized I.R.S. e-file provider. The I.R.S. requires testing to ensure that the tax preparation software engine calculates tax liabilities accurately and transmits tax returns electronically in the correct format and meets the I.R.S. e-filing specifications.

How can I change the information on my tax return or correct a mistake I made?

How do I get my refund or pay any tax liabilities I owe if I file electronically?

The same way as if you file a paper return. If you expect a refund, you can select direct-deposit into your bank account. Otherwise, the I.R.S. will mail you a check.

I submitted a question earlier...but it didn't help my problem. My username is ***** and my pw is ********. This pw is not working. I can only think that I may have made a typo in my entering this pw in the system, but every pw I've tried has been incorrect. The response the online support gave was that my return has indeed be accepted. GOOD JOB! And it gave me instructions on how to submit my state return...which I have already finished. Can you guys tell me what my pw is or make a new one please? I'd really like to get on and check everything. THANKS.
